Template notice: this is a general-purpose Terms of Service template written for Astra Pilot Academy's specific business (a paid FAA Part 107 exam-prep course). It is provided as a starting point, not legal advice. Have a qualified attorney review these terms before relying on them in production.
Astra Pilot Academy ("Astra Pilot Academy", "we", "us") operates an online exam-prep course, chart trainer, quizzes, and practice exams to help drone pilots prepare for the FAA Part 107 Unmanned Aircraft General — Small (UAG) knowledge test. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website and platform (the "Service").
Astra Pilot Academy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or any other government agency. Course-completion credential, not an FAA remote pilot certificate. FAA fees and passing score — confirm current details at faa.gov.
You need an account (email + password, or a supported sign-in method) to access paid course content. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
Paid plans are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. When you check out, you're providing your payment details directly to Stripe under Stripe's own terms and privacy policy — Astra Pilot Academy does not receive or store your full card number, CVC, or other card data on our servers. We receive confirmation of payment and billing metadata (such as the last four digits of your card, transaction amount, and billing status) needed to grant and manage your access.
Prices, seat counts, and tier names shown on our pricing page are current as of the time you check out. Team/enterprise pricing is quoted separately.
Outside of the pass guarantee described below, course fees are generally non-refundable once purchased, except where required by law.
If you purchased a plan that includes our pass guarantee, it works as described on our guarantee page: complete the full course, score 80%+ on two full practice exams, schedule your FAA knowledge test within 7 days of finishing the course (or the earliest available test slot), submit proof of scheduling, and — if you still don't pass — submit your failed FAA test report to claim a refund of your course fee. The guarantee covers a refund of Astra Pilot Academy course fees only; it does not cover FAA testing fees, retake fees, or any third-party costs.
The Service provides exam-preparation content: lessons, quizzes, practice exams, and a chart trainer built on real, public-domain FAA sectional-chart figures. Completing the course earns a course-completion credential from Astra Pilot Academy — it is not an FAA remote pilot certificate. Only the FAA (or an FAA-approved testing center) can administer the official knowledge test and issue a Remote Pilot Certificate.
Separately, the FAA also requires recurrent training for certificated Remote Pilots. That recurrent training (FAA course ALC-677) is free and available directly from the FAA. Any recurrent-training or renewal content we offer is a paid, optional study aid — it is not a substitute for, and does not replace, the free FAA course.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard to keep course content accurate and current, but FAA regulations, fees, and test formats change — always confirm current requirements at faa.gov. We don't guarantee that using the Service will result in passing the FAA knowledge test, except to the specific extent described in the pass guarantee above.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Astra Pilot Academy and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you (for example, by email or an in-product notice). Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Astra Pilot Academy is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. (Replace this section with your specific governing-law and venue clause once counsel has reviewed your business entity and location.)
